3 Décor Trends We’re Seeing in 2025 and How You Can Try Them — According to a Home Editor

A new year always signals the itch for change, and we’re here to help you scratch it — with 2025’s best décor trends.

We tapped Better Homes & Gardens shopping editor Brandi Fuller to learn how people are zhuzhing their homes to make way for a fresh look. In chatting, three buzzy trends came forward: a vintage aesthetic, geometric design, and moody tones (and no, we’re not going to tell you to paint your living room Mocha Mousse).

Ahead, Fuller gives guidance on how to replicate these trends in your home starting at $18.

Vintage Aesthetic

  • Shenmoyl Battery Operated Wall Sconce with Tulip Lampshade, $45 (orig. $50); amazon.com
  • Louisa Wall Monogram, $38; anthropologie.com
  • Lulu and Georgia Giovanna Candle Holder, $68; luluandgeorgia.com
  • Beautypeak Arch Bathroom Mirror, $66; walmart.com

“Not only are people feeling nostalgic, but folks are also getting a bit creative with how they spend their money on home makeovers or renovations (due to inflation and upcoming tariffs),” Fuller tells PEOPLE. “This means shopping at antique or thrift stores to find vintage pieces at affordable prices and blending those finds with more modern pieces or just pieces people already had or inherited.”

$66 at Walmart

In 2024, Anthropologie mirrors like this one were popular on TikTok — but we found this less expensive option at Walmart. The Beautypeak mirror’s design is a nod to the baroque style with its ornate gold frame, and it’s the ideal size to sit above a vanity or mantel.

If you prefer something more subtle, consider these candle holders. They come as a set of two and are ideal to rest on a tablescape, mantel, or shelf. Though made of sturdy aluminum, the candle holders wear a brushed gold paint reminiscent of vintage design. It should be noted the taper candles don’t come with the holders.

Geometric Design

  • Anthropologie Hexagon Bath Hook, $38; anthropologie.com
  • Better Homes & Gardens Juliet Arc Door Kitchen Cabinet, $118; walmart.com
  • Ruggable Valencia Sage Green Rug, $339; ruggable.com
  • NuWallpaper x RZ by Rachel Zoe Ramsey Geometric Wallpaper, $51 (orig. $60); wallpops.com

Geometric design is also making an impact in 2025. “Don’t get scared by the trend and think this only means bold, colorful abstract shapes,” says Fuller. “It can be something simple like a vase with a funky shape or a storage cabinet with subtle arc details. If you want to be bold with it, add throw pillows, a rug, or a large piece of art to be the focal point of your space.”

This hook creates a playful design on your wall (especially when staggered as a group of two or three). It can also function as a coat or dog leash hook by your front door. The gold finish offers a bit of shine, but it comes in a matte black, too.

Give your space some texture and intrigue without too much investment with this peel-and-stick wallpaper that is apartment-friendly. The black background makes the gold geometric print pop forward in an eye-catching take on this trend.

Moody Tones

  • Bedsure Fondue Fudge Fleece Blanket, $18 (orig. $20); amazon.com
  • Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 2-Slice Toaster, $40; walmart.com
  • Lulu and Georgia Carys Contrast Linen Pillow, $98; luluandgeorgia.com
  • Mercer41 Meryll Wall Sconce, $134 (orig. $164); wayfair.com

“Bright whites and clean lines were popular for a while, but that combo can tend to feel a bit sterile and uninviting,” explains Fuller. “Moodier hues are taking over because they can offer an intimate and cozy feeling, and they add a bit of personality and inspiration without feeling overwhelming.”

“We’re also seeing more brown tones versus black tones. If you want a lived-in feel, brown hues will add more warmth. For a modern, cooler look, black will be a better option. Moody hues also complement vintage pieces beautifully — especially if you can find vintage pieces that have brass or gold accents.”

Though Fuller swears by her Lola Blankets throw — “I’ve tested several blankets, and this one is my favorite of all time. I won’t even share it with my husband” — we found this less expensive espresso version at Amazon.

Fuller shares that “ambient and dimmable lighting is perfect for achieving a moody look.” She points out that it adds warmth, but it also creates shadows which amplify the moody aesthetic. This wall sconce set comes in a darker red hue and is dimmable.
